You don’t want to have to search multiple blogs or YouTube videos to find the answers you need. That’s why we’ve included a complete breakdown right here of all the facts about Helium 10 to help you choose the best software for your business.
What is Helium 10 and How Does it Work?
Helium 10 offers a number of different tools to help Amazon sellers find profitable products and optimize their listings. It also includes a Chrome extension (not currently available on FireFox) that helps sellers analyze existing products and listings on the Amazon website. It offers features such as product research, an ASIN grabber, reverse ASIN lookup, a keyword processor, an index checker, and more. Plus, it works on both Windows and macOS.
So, how does it compare to AMZScout? We’ve done a deep dive into all of Helium 10’s offerings to see how they stack up against the AMZScout Web App and the Pro Extension.
Product Research
Product research is arguably the most important part of being an Amazon seller. Just like in Amazon’s affiliate program, in order to be successful as a seller, you need to be able to quickly find products that meet your criteria. For most sellers, this means identifying items that have enough sales and a high rank while also being the right size and weight.
You may be wondering how to find the right product to sell on Amazon. It used to be that sellers would have to endlessly browse Amazon’s website in order to find a viable product, but not anymore. New tools that you can download make searching easier than ever. First, let’s take a look at Helium 10’s product research tool, known as Black Box.
Once you login, Black Box lets you search Amazon’s product inventory while also providing you with a number of helpful filters. These include category, sales, price, size, reviews, weight, and more.
By using these filters you’ll be able to quickly narrow your search and locate products that meet your strict requirements.
AMZScout’s Web App also lets you search Amazon’s products and offers a wide range of filters to help you narrow your searches, such as category, product tier, seller type, price, sales, rank, size, weight, and more.
However, in addition to Helium 10’s filters, it also offers a listing quality filter. This allows you to search for products with a poor listing quality score.
So, why is listing quality important? Well, this is one of the ways you can identify products and niches with a low level of competition. Ideally, you want your competitors to have listings that are low quality, as this will be something you’ll be able to improve on. If you can create listings that are better than your competitors you’ll have a better chance of overtaking them in Amazon’s rankings and generating more sales.
Keyword Research
Keyword research is another important part of being an Amazon seller. Once you identify what products you want to sell you need to find the best keywords for those products. This will allow you to optimize your listings and PPC ads so your products can show up in the right search results.
Targeting the right keywords will also help you improve your Amazon rankings, which will lead to your listings getting more views. And of course, the more views and traffic your listings receive the more sales you’re bound to get.
Helium 10’s keyword research tool is called Magnet. The tool lets you type in a seed keyword and then it will generate a number of keywords related to the initial term. Each term it generates is given a Magnet IQ, and it will display the total searches that term receives along with other helpful metrics. You can also use the Helium 10 organic search terms tool to only look at organic search term data.
Helium 10 also offers Cerebro, which is a reverse ASIN lookup tool. By entering any Amazon ASIN Cerebro lets you discover what keyword that product is currently ranking for.
Finally, Helium 10’s Frankenstein tool helps you clean-up massive keyword lists, transforming them into more manageable groups.
AMZScout also offers sophisticated keyword research technology that will help you identify the best keywords for your products. The Web App provides amazing accuracy and includes the Keywords Explorer tool which also lets you input seed keywords in order to find other relevant keywords. The tool shows you how many searches keywords get.
AMZScout also lets you search specific ASINs in order to see what keywords they’re ranking for with the Keyword Tracker tool. This allows you to see which keywords your competitors are ranking for and determine how well they’re performing for each keyword.
You can also visualize keyword changes over time, including rank history for each word, page, price, rating, and review tracking.
This gives you a view of a keyword’s entire history so you can make more informed decisions about which keywords are best to use.
Chrome Extension Features
Both Helium 10 and AMZScout offer sophisticated Chrome extensions and plugins that allow you to analyze products and niches while you browse Amazon’s website.
Remember, it’s not enough to find a profitable product, you also need to find a profitable niche. You might find a product that looks like it would be a great item to sell, but if the niche around that product doesn’t have enough demand or has too much competition you should find something else.
By finding a good niche you’ll give yourself a better chance at success. You’ll also be able to expand your business and start carrying other products in that niche.
The Helium 10 Chrome Extension features its Xray tool which gives you a wide array of market data on millions of Amazon products, including average sales and revenue, and inventory levels. It also offers a Success Score for the niche and a profitability calculator that helps you determine what type of profit you’ll be able to make on any given product.
AMZScout’s Pro Extension provides you with the same data. You’ll be able to get information on average sales, revenue, price, and every other metric you need in order to make an informed decision on a niche.
The Pro Extension also displays a niche score. This score analyzes a niche based on demand and competition and gives it a score out of 10. Niches with a score of 7 or higher are deemed to have a high amount of potential while niches with scores below that number should be avoided. This makes it quick and easy to determine whether or not a niche is profitable.
Not only that, but each individual product is given a score based on its profitability. This can help you decide which products within a niche are the best to sell.
Finally, AMZScout’s niche history and trends data lets you see the entire history of a niche.
This ensures you choose a niche that’s proven to consistently generate a large number of sales over a long period of time.
Pricing Comparison
All this information is helpful, but you must be wondering how much does Helium 10 cost. Here’s a complete breakdown of their pricing.
Helium 10 Pricing
Helium 10 offers a free plan, but it’s extremely limited and really more of a trial. It doesn’t include all the tools, while other tools are limited to just 30 days or a certain number of uses. Once those run out you’ll have to select one of the paid plans.
They also offer an a la carte option where you can choose the tools you want, but this will end up being extremely expensive. Again, not all the tools are available with this option, while the ones that are average about $37 per month. By the time you select three tools you’ll already be over $100 per month.
The best value plans are their Platinum ($97 per month), Diamond ($197 per month), and Elite ($397) plans. These include all the tools, however, there are still limits on how many times you can use certain tools. Or you have the option to subscribe to annual plans for the Platinum ($970) and the Diamond ($1970) packages.
You can also pay additional fees for boosts, such as extra emails per month.
AMZScout Pricing
AMZScout’s pricing structure is much more cost-effective, allowing you to keep more of your money so you can invest back into your business. You can see the current prices here.
Customer Support
Finally, we’ll look at customer support as that’s an important factor when considering any product or service.
Helium 10 offers a help center with answers to their most frequently asked questions. If you’re unable to find the answer to your question in their FAQ you can submit a request and a representative will get back to you as soon as possible. While this is sufficient in most cases, sometimes you need urgent assistance or want to speak to someone.
This is where AMZScout’s customer support service really shines. They offer 24/7 support via email or Whatsapp and their average response rate is just four hours.
Which Tool Should You Choose?
Helium 10 offers a number of great features and is certainly a helpful tool for sellers. However, AMZScout offers virtually all of the same features as Helium 10, plus a few additional ones. On top of all of this, AMZScout is significantly cheaper. If you want to get the critical data you need at a price you can afford we recommend AMZScout.
