Which account type you choose is up to you. Generally speaking, if you’re just looking to give Amazon selling a try and only plan to sell a small number of products to start then go with the individual account (you can always upgrade later). But if you’re serious about making as much money as you can from selling on Amazon choose the Professional account.
How to Set Up Your Amazon Seller Account
Once you choose what type of account you want it’s time to go through the sign-up process and actually apply for your account.
Follow the steps below to make sure it’s set up correctly.
1. Have the Right Documents Ready
To start, make sure you have the following on hand:
A valid credit card
A bank statement or credit card statement
A piece of ID
You’ll need these to complete your account registration.
2. Start the Process
Go to Amazon.com and click Sell at the top of the page. On the next page, click Sign Up to sign up as a professional seller. Or you can scroll down and select Sign up to become an individual seller.
From there, you’ll be asked to enter your name, email, and desired password. Once this information is entered, click Next.
3. Verify Your Email
After you’ve submitted your email Amazon will send you a code. Go to your email, open the message from Amazon, and copy the code. Then, return to the sign-up page and paste the code into the field proved.
Once that’s done, click Verify.
4. Enter Your Business Information
Amazon will then ask you to enter your business location. This is the location where you registered your business. If you don’t have a business just enter your country of residence. Then enter your business type. Select the option that applies to you.
Once this information is submitted enter your full name then click Agree and Continue.
On the following page, you’ll need to enter your country of citizenship and birth and submit one piece of identification. You can choose between your driver's license, passport, or permanent residence card. Then, enter your business address. This is either your home address (if you don’t have your own business) or the address you registered your business under.
Before you move on to the next step you’ll also need to enter your phone number. Make sure to enter a valid number, as Amazon will call or text you to verify it (you can choose the verification method you prefer).
After you’ve entered your information and verified your phone number, click Next.
5. Choose Your Billing Method
On this page, you’ll need to enter your credit card information. This will be the credit card Amazon bills for your account fees.
Click “Next” when you’re ready to move on the next step.
6. Store Information
Choose a name for your store. This is the seller name customers will see on Amazon. Try to come up with something catchy but not too specific. That way you can branch out into multiple different niches.
Next, Amazon will have a few questions about your products you’ll need to answer. Let them know whether you have UPCs for your products, are the manufacturer or brand owner, and if you have any trademarks.
When you’re done with the questions click Next to continue.
7. Identity Verification
Review your information at the top of the page to ensure it’s correct. Then, upload a photo of your identification. You can either scan it in color or take a photo. You’ll also need to submit an additional document. This can be either a bank account statement or a credit card statement.
Once your documents are uploaded click Submit to submit your application.
8. Your Account is Now Under Review
That’s it! Once you verify your identity your account will now be under review. Amazon will then approve you or If there is an issue with any of the information you entered they’ll reach out to you so you can change it.
Once your account is approved you’ll be able to login to seller central, where you have access to add products and start creating your listings.

First, you’re going to want to decide what model you’re going to use for your business. Three of the most common options are:
Retail Arbitrage: This involves going to local retail stores and searching for items that are on sale or clearance.
